High Frame Rate support KONA 4 has the power to support 4K High Frame Rate (HFR) at 50p and 60p for the most demanding 4K and UHD workflows.
  2. Using the AJA Io 4K in vMix. SDI Input: select IO4K Input 1,2,3 or 4 as the Camera and SDI as the Input. Note: Only four connections can be used at once in vMix.
  3. AJA KONA, Io and T-TAP Drivers Release Notes - Mac Drivers v10.6 General This driver version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks). Important Note This will be the!nal release of AJA Mac Hardware Drivers to support the KONA 3 card. Improvements New AJA Control Room v1.2. Improved 4K capture and playback.

Thunderbolt 2 technology allows even greater bandwidth between host computer systems and properly engineered Thunderbolt devices. AJA’s Io 4K takes full advantage of this improved throughput to allow capture and output of video signals from SD to 4K and everything in between.

Futureproof

Io 4K offers broad and futureproof support for formats all the way from SD to 4K. The realtime down-converter also means you can work at higher resolutions and easily create lower resolution deliverables without the need to recapture or re-edit.

With applicable streaming software, you can utilize all 4x 3G-SDI connections for live stream switching from multiple input sources.

HDR

HDR or High Dynamic Range, provides the ability to display a wider and richer range of colors, much brighter whites, and much deeper, darker blacks than standard signals allow. This gives your imagery a more ‘dynamic’ look and allows for natural true to life colors to be communicated to your audience.

Aja Kona 4 Driver

Io 4K provides this support for your 4K/UltraHD/2K and HD HDR pipelines to HDMI compatible displays in software v12.5 and above by offering HDR 10 support with HDR Infoframe metadata, in accordance with HDMI 2.0a/CTA-861.3. Desktop Software v13 introduces HLG support over HDMI for the latest versions of Adobe Premiere CC.

Monitor 4K in HD

When working at 4K resolutions, Io 4K outputs a high quality HD-SDI down-converted signal on a dedicated BNC connector. This HD signal can be used to output 4K projects directly to HD recorders for broadcast and for easy viewing of 4K images on HD monitors during postproduction.

Powerful

Thunderbolt 2 technology increases the available bandwidth that can be carried on a single Thunderbolt cable. Io 4K capitalizes on this increased capacity to allow up to 4K signals to be captured and output.

With dual Thunderbolt 2 ports, compatible with Thunderbolt 3, Io 4K can daisy chain additional devices together such as high resolution displays and high capacity storage for a complete, portable solution that’s powerful enough to meet the demands of professional production.

Extensive software support

AJA hardware is supported by an extensive list of professional software for editing, visual effects, graphics and more allowing the same AJA device to be used by many different applications on the same system. In addition, AJA provides several free applications that enable you to utilize the power of your AJA hardware even without having to run a particular software package. This allows you to create unique workflows without tying up valuable resources unnecessarily.

Integrated Audio

Embedded 16-Channel SDI and 8-Channel HDMI audio are supported as well as analog audio outputs via a standard DB-25 connection. Stereo monitoring is also possible with 2 x RCA outputs and a front panel mini-TRS headphone jack.

Sync up

Io 4K can be locked to an external reference for integration into larger productions, or feed LTC in and out to ensure footage captured with Io 4K has the proper timecode. Download adaptec sata raid 2810sa controller driver download.

Machine control

An RS-422 port allows control of tape decks for frame accurate captures and layoffs.

Connections

Driver

The basic I/O connections are shown below. Further detail can be found in the AJA documentation.

SDI Monitoring output

The default AJA connections are two inputs (1,2) and two outputs (3,4).

For standard formats (SD,HD) we use the two output ports only (3,4). For 4K and UHD monitoring requirements, we use all four ports :

SD / HD formats :SDI 3 + SDI 4
4K / UHD formats :SDI 1 + SDI 2 + SDI 3 + SDI 4
StereoLeft eye = SDI 3

Right eye = SDI 4

RGB mode in stereo needs 3G (level A or B) connection.
NOTE: There is no 4K with stereo.

HDMI Output

  • The Kona 3G supports 2K over HDMI
  • The Kona 4 supports 4K over HDMI
    • From version 2015.2, there is an option to downscale 4K to 2K for output via HDMI. This is for users with HDMI displays that do not support 4K. Kona 4 Only
    • From version 2017.1, HDR output over HDMI (as defined by the HDMI 2.0a spec) is supported. Kona 4 Only
    • From version 2018.2, HDMI is always UHD/4K in 2Si Mode - in Quadrant mode HDMI is always HD
  • Stereo over HDMI is not supported (left eye output only)

UHD and 4K

UHD and 4K modes are output over all four SDI ports as quad segments :

Changes in Release 2018.2 (forthcoming) :

There are now two mapping modes for UHD/4K, this specifies how the signal is output from the Kona 4

  • 2Si -Signal Interleaved
    • For RGB444 10-Bit all four SDI ports are used (RGB444 12 bit is not supported in 2Si)
    • For YUV422 10-Bit signals only SDI Ports 3 and 4 are used as outputs
    • HDMI in 2Si mapping is only available in UHD/4K
  • Quadrant Mode
    • Supports all UHD/4K modes using all four SDI Ports
    • RGB444 12-Bit is supported
    • HDMI in Quadrant mode will always be HD

12 Bit Modes

Support :

  • 2014.2 - Support 12 bit output in dual-link mode and it is not available for 4K or stereo.
  • 2015.1 - as 2014.2
  • 2015.2 - RGB 12-bit output is available via 3G level B-DL as well as dual-link and is thus supported for stereo and 4K content.
  • 2017.1 - RGB 12-bit output is available via 3G level A as well as B-DL. Kona 4 Only
  • 2018.2 - RGB 12-bit output is available only in Quadrant transport mode - not 2Si Kona 4 Only

Audio

Audio is embedded in SDI and HDMI outputs as well as the AJA AES/EBU outputs.

Aja Kona4 Sdi I/o Driver License

Up to the maximum of 8 channels supported by the Digital Vision applications.

Timecodes

LTC and VITC timecodes are embedded in SDI output and LTC timecode is also output via the dedicated LTC output.
